Ingredients
1 cup whole raw nuts or seeds (I love almonds)
4 cups filtered water (plus more water for soaking)
pinch of sea salt
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
Directions
- soak nuts overnight for 6-12 hours
- drain and rinse nuts
- blend with water and flavours for at least a minute on high in a powerful upright blender
- strain through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth into clean container
- store in the fridge. shake before drinking.
** you can add dates, honey, other spices like nutmeg or cardamom in place of cinnamon. Mix it up by switching out almonds for other nuts such as brazil nuts or hazelnuts, or seeds like sunflower seeds.
****Fresh nut milks don’t have any stabilizers or preservatives so they won’t last as long as store-bought. I usually make one batch every 3-4 days for my family of 3… it seems like a lot of work as a type it, but it’s quite simple and the taste of the fresh nut milk is so amazing that we can’t go back !
