DIY baby wipes & bum spray recipe from The Green Mama
Make a little spray bottle for on the go, take your cloth wipes and pre- soak them, or make disposable baby wipes by adding the baby wipe mix to an unbleached, paper towel roll cut in half or a to flushable cloth- diaper liners.
The baby wipe mixture can be as simple as a squirt of Dr. Bronner’s, or a similarly gentle castile soap, mixed with a similar size squirt of olive oil into a cup or so of warm water. From there you can add things like aloe vera juice, calendula oil, or a couple of drops of baby-safe essential oils. None of these diaper wipe recipes contain a preservative, so they won’t last forever, but they will be good for at least a week. To create solutions that will last a bit longer and fight diaper rash, try adding coconut oil (antimicrobial properties), chamomile tea (mild disinfectant), calendula (mild disinfectant and promotes healing) and/or up to a tablespoonful
of raw honey (antibacterial and soothing). If your child has a really bad diaper rash, instead of using more ingredients in your bum cleaning, try just using water at first.
Simple bum wipe recipe
1⁄8 cup gentle castile soap (like Dr. Bronner’s)
1⁄8 cup edible oil (like extra virgin olive oil)
Few drops of your favourite baby-safe essential oil 2 cups warm, purified water
Directions: Combine your ingredients, mix, and then add to your wipes or pour into a spray bottle.
