Pai Skin Care is an all-natural British beauty brand that has attained cult status over the past few years. Pai was launched in 2007 as a response to the lack of truly natural, hypoallergenic, and transparent skin care products on the market. Like most amazing finds, Pai was created by someone who couldn’t find what she was looking for and came up with her own product. Pai launched in Canada at the beginning of this year and we tested out the Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser to find out if this organic beauty brand was as good as Natalie Portman says !
For folks with sensitive skin or a desire to rid toxicity from their skin care routine Pai is a great choice. They are certified organic by the Soil Association. They list all of the ingredients in plain english instead of using complicated scientific or botanical names. This is key for anyone with a sensitivity or an allergy. Pai is completely free of harsh synthetic and natural chemicals such as:
The Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser comes in a simple pump bottle that helps portion out exactly the right amount of cleanser each time. They have also included an organic muslin face cloth in each box to help you take your skin care routine to the next level.
Pai takes social responsibility to heart. Currently beauty brands and skin care products are not held to the same rigorous standards as the food industry when it comes to labelling. Your make-up and skin care can be touted as ‘natural’ ‘plant-based’ and even ‘organic’ without any certification to back up the claims. Pai Skin Care has gone above and beyond industry standards and is certified Cruelty free by Leaping Bunny and Organic by the Soil Association. This kind of accountability sets them apart from other natural brands.
As far as we can tell, Pai is not doing anything to mitigate their carbon footprint. Hopefully they move towards a carbon neutral certification in the future.
Pai is committed to doing their part to mitigate the waste that comes with purchasing products today. They only partner with companies that share their views on protecting the earth, and this promise extends to the company that supplies their packaging. The state that “Wherever possible, our stationery and packaging is produced from recycled materials. All invoice slips, boxes and bottles can be recycled after use.”
At $50 dollars for 100ml of Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser this is not an inexpensive product! But if you have extremely sensitive skin like Sarah Brown, Pai founder, this beauty brand could be your saving grace and worth every penny.
